Smile Lose your pet??

If you have the secondary profession of ranger, and you change that profession(even though you can still go back to being secondary ranger), will you lose your pet if you didnt release/"store" it into the menagerie, since you won't have "Charm Animal" in your skill bar, or skill panel at all. Thanks!

Your pet will only accompany you when you actually have Charm Animal OR Comfort Pet equipped in your tool bar... but you do not lose it, even if you haven't stored it at the menagerie and even if you switch secondary professions. I started as an E/R, and was switching secondary professions long before I figured out how to use the menagerie. LOL

So yeah, your pet is still "waiting" for you, until you once again switch to Ranger and equip Comfort Pet.

I believe the only way to actually lose a pet is to somehow charm a new one without storing the old in the menagerie... but logistically, I can't figure out how you would do that since if you've got Charm Animal equipped, your pet is there with you. I guess maybe if you attempt to charm another while your pet is there beside you, your pet would be set free? I don't know... haven't tried it.

yes even if you charmed a pet in pre-searing (prophecies) and decided to NOT take ranger as your 2ndary....if you do change over to ranger your pet will be there waiting for you (found this out on a mule who had charmed a moa in pre....and then I was going out to charm a jingle bear---and I already HAD a pet since I had not released it to a tamer).

unless you release a charmed pet to a tamer (either in the menagerie or someplace else) you will have a pet when you put one of the 2 skills gizzy mentioned.

and in order to charm a new pet you need to first release the old one to a tamer.

There's a rip in the fabric of space and time, but only pets can access it.

When charm/comfort/HaO aren't on your bar, or if you're not a primary/secondary ranger, your pet just dashes into some crazy warp dimension and waits there.

Stephen Hawking's got nothin on my pet piggy.
